The Communications and Public Relations Registry engaged court users and members of the general public in Bushenyi and Mitooma on the different access to justice initiatives in the Judiciary.

The awareness drives were hosted by HW Toloko Simon (Chief Magistrate Bushenyi), HW Mujuni Paul (Magistrate Grade One Mitooma).

In his brief to court users, HW Toloko thanked the Judiciary administration for the efforts in fostering public awareness of court processes and initiatives and requested more of such engagements. He emphasized Judiciary's commitment to improve the court experience and deliver justice for all court users and encouraged court users to embrace such awareness and sensitization campaigns. "We shouldn't only come to court for disputes, but to learn about court procedures and processes," he said.

The Mitooma Magistrate HW Mujuni Paul encouraged court users to always seek clarification while at court. He also pointed out Judiciary's commitment to deliver timely justice with innovations such as Small Claims Procedure, Plea Bargaining and Mediation.

The sensitization campaigns emphasized initiatives such as Plea Bargaining, Mediation, bail refund procedure, Small Claims Procedure, and Judiciary toll-free numbers.

HW Mujuni urged the court users to utilize his open-door policy so that they are not duped. He said he always goes the extra mile of checking the court premises and engaging the court users to ensure that they get the services they need.

The Mitooma Resident State Attorney encouraged the court users to always make use of her office while following upon their cases. "Why don't you come to my office if your file is not at the police or in court," she said. Court users were cautioned against fraudsters around court who illegally solicit money from people in order to access court services, and encouraged all court staff to wear identification cards at all times while at court for easy identification. They were also encouraged to call Judiciary's toll-free numbers for more inquiries and guidance about court procedures.
